how to fit a hotpoint programmer / timer board?

Hotpoint WM55 - I'm trying to replace a faulty programmer/timer board. I've replaced it exactly the same as the old one. Machine is still not running through the cycle (skipping programs ect). Could there be a fault elsewhere?

I know that if the insultation of the heating element is low, this can cause Hotpoint washing machines to throw a wobbler. Take a lokk for visual damage on the element and replace if necesary. I suspect the programmer/timer board was not at fault.
