How can I fix my Hotpoint Aquarius CTD00 ?

When we turn the dryer on, the motor can be heard trying to work but the drum will not turn. With the side cover off, if the drum is pushed manually either way, it will turn by the aid of the motor. If the drum is stopped and turned back on, the motor is then trying to work again so a gentle push on the drum either way will start it up. Is this a motor problem or something to do with what tells the motor to turn ?????
It is as if it can`t decide which polarity to use.

Just fixed my 2 year old Hotpoint Aquarius CTD00 thanks to some of the answers I found on here.

Everything appeared to be working apart from the heating element.
I removed a panel at the back, roughly oval in shape covering from the lower left corner to the centre, which had about 10 screws.
I then removed the internal bracket which holds the heating element and thermostats.
One of the thermostats has a small hole in the top, into which I inserted a pin and heard a click.
Reassembled it and it now appears to work fine.

my dryer ctd00 is not heating up. the drum appears to be moving and the cycle is taking cause but on finishing and emptying the machine the clothes are still damp.

Many thanks, a new 8uf capacitor has solved the problem and the dryer is working perfect again.

I have the same problem! It is the capacitor. Buy a 7uf or 8uf capacitor and replace it and it should solve your problem!
