whirlpool adp 262 not heating water intermittently?

Fault has recently arisen, machine completes wash (on position no 2) very quickly, but does not get hot.If, however, pre-soak (pos'n 1) used and then switched to pos'n 2 works normally most times.

get a new one as its probably gonna cost more to repair than to replace, and its an old model propably no longer supported by philips as well
