My Laz -Z-Boy chair recliner, won't close all the way. The footpad goes only halfway down. What to do please.

IM 14 years old that is it. my mums new recliner has just broken she doesnt let me put them up but i have and no its broke, the spring is sticking out please help me my dads in the kitchen he will kill me if he finds out i need help on how to fix it without paying money as its the middle of the night please! :'(:'(

flip the recliner up where you can see under the chair check for broken parts. Thats what I found on mine.
