timing?

how to set timing on 84 xr200r honda when kicking over.instead of suck were carbs are it blows out.has compression but no suck/is it rings or timing
steven cordell, December 2007
If there is compression, then its a timing problem which can only be faulty if the engine has been apart or the cam chain has slipped over the cam sprocket. The engine has valve timing marks, on the flywheel and camshaft sprocket itself.
