If you feel capable, then yes - however you'll need to completely re-time the engine afterwards and renew the timing belt. Frankly this isn't a job to be tackled by an amateur so it depends on your skill and experience. Why not go for a scrappy or reconditioned one? LSUK (the old Lucas group) could help.....they are a crazy price but they are one hell of a piece of engineering.
