I did my son in laws a couple of years ago,the whole right hand side of the engine has to come off (and of course first the cylinder head and barrel then split the crankcase)use tyre levers to leave the crank in the left side of the engine,there is a long bolt that connects the two parts together when you remove it the bike will fall apart the back end from the front end,you need someone to help and hold things up for you,but it is straightforward,clean mating surfaces and use Instant Gasket Cement and refit in reverse order,first job of course is to drain all the oil out.Good luck.
