i went2 accelerate and there was no power at all, then the engine wouldnt start. any ideas what it could be?

My Clio lost power until it could not be driven. The catalytic converter was blocked.

You don't mention how old or the engine size of your Clio, would poss be best to have diagnostic check done to obtain fault code. If early Clio could be flywheel sensor or coolant temp sensor, later Clios (1.2 16v) suffered with wiring loom being rubbed through by ECU cover and also suffered with ECU problems.
