how can I trouble shoot my dryer?

Where can I get a wiring diagram or instructions on how to test the various components like the timer

The best way to test these - in my opinion - is to have a mains neon test screwdriver handy. You can tell if power is getting to the element and motor etc when it should be. Timers rarely give trouble (famous last words) but they have two outputs - one to drive the drum only during cool down and one to drive the drum and the heating element when the thing is actually drying.
