How do i replace the ink pads???

My printer came up with a message saying the parts in my printer need to be replaced, but a friend says its the ink pads that need to be replaced, they are full caused by too many head cleanings. How can this be done??

The printer is an epson I take it, so move the cartridge carrier to the left from its usual rest position, you will then see the ink pads, take some tissue and a good pair of disposable gloves, place the tissue on the ink pads and repeat until it has absorbed most of the ink, then go to the website below to download a program which you will need to install

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

After instalation open the program and click on reset all counters, from the toolbar icon, the icon is similar to your original printer icon you will have to right click on this icon by the way to find the reset all counters bit and this should sort it!
