Hotpoint Aquarius CTD00 - Not drying?

My condenser dryer does not heat - The items of washing are still at room temperature during (we have stopped the cycle) and after a full cycle. The dryer does tumble and engine noise can be heard but no heat is produced

And this is the first time we have used it! No water appears in the reservoir and the items are as wet after the cycle as when they went in...

The dryer is only 1 month old!

Any help appreciated!!

I bought this tumble dryer about 3/4 years ago and only use it rarely - a few months ago it started to take forever to dry anything. On re-reading the maintenance section of the manual I realized that although I've been cleaning the filter and emptying the water after each cycle, I hadn't ever cleaned the condensing unit - oops! Supposed to be done every month. It had loads of fluff and gunk in it - which I got rid of and cleaned as instructed, and now the dryer is working properly - much hotter! Let's hope this continues! This probably isn't your problem as you've clearly not used it yet but I hope it helps someone else with the same issue.

Sounds like the heating element at the back has gone, you can order a new one from Amazon for £23, is not to difficult to fix

My tumble has same problem! I had it for 4 months and it stopped heating...so Hotpoint came out last Thursday and replaced the heating element...today is Sunday and it has stopped heating already! My friend has same tumble and had her heating element replaced on Tuesday...there must be a problem with these machines they should be recalled...What a joke...I recommend purchasing a guarantee after years manufacturers one runs out because it is cheaper than a call out from hotpoint...£50 for 1 year.....

hi what the problem is the heating element might be broke to check unplug machine. at the back bottom left remove the 6or7 screws and slide cover down to expose heating element, lean it against next to machine
plug machine back on. and start machine dont touch the exposed heater when started you should see the heating elements start to get hot if not then you need to replace heating element. this is easy remove the left hand side panel when looking from back of machine you will see were it is connected unplug and then unscrew were the heater is connected to the back plate.order part from hotpoint before you remove old one part costs about £27 week to come then replace. regarding the water problem turn off machine at the back bottom right there is a little resovior to hold water which takes the water to container at top what happens is the fluff from clothes blocks the water groove in the resovior tiny hole in the corner of resoviur to clean take right side of machine off and remove large filter from front bottom out look inside right side of machine and you will see wet sludge remove with hands and cloth remove all muck and replace filter and side panel the macine should work but try this option before you do the heating element.

It may just need cleaning out. A lot of sludge collects in the filter. Try taking it out and hoover the gunge out. Replace it and it should work fine.

Hi, Having just bought one of these and then found it to be faulty.
The usual fault is the 8uf capacitor. Dismantle the left side panel and the top removes to the rear. When, you look at the back of the machine, there is a small disc with 2 screws, remove it. Around that but to the left of it is a further cover, remove that. The 8uf bit is there.
If you leave the door open and use a small object to activate the drum switch, over the door. Then switch on, it will be obvious whether the heater is working. Seriously, don't touch anything. The heater either works or it don't!
Easier to replace parts than re-makethem.
