TIMING BELT FIESTA VAN 2001 ENDURA 1800 DIESEL?

could anyone please help me the cambelt broke on a friend of 1.8 endurance diesel engine he changed 4no valves which was bent he has put it back together correctly ie timing etc but takes a long time to start and when it does start runs for a few seconds and then stops could any one please help

You need a setting pin which screws into the bottom left (as you stand in front of the car) of the crankcase. There's a plug which you have to unscrew first, then screw in the pin and slowly turn the crank by hand until the web on the crank contacts the pin. That's cylinder 1 TDC.

If everything's in the right place, you should be able to fit a locking plate into a horizontal slot in the tail end of the cam (remove cam cover to check). If not, remove the pin, turn the crank 360° and try again.
