electrical fault?

i have a 1996 1.6 vauxhall tigrs Bermuda, i have just replaced the battery as it was completely flat , now the dash lights on the car have a life of their own . i broke down the other day after the electrics went mad and the car died! the battery now wont hold any charge! im at a loss and can only guess it must be an electrical fault as when my new battery was fitted it was tested and taking charge so it cant be the alternator, can it? Help!

yes it could be the alternater ,you need to get it tested by an auto electrician ,it could also be an engine earth fault,a test you can do yourself is to charge battery turn on lights and note how bright they are then start car and they should get a little brighter if its charging so its better to do this at night so you can gauge brightnes of lights good luck
