My Homelite chainsaw model UT10901A will start but will not run, acts like?

My homelite chainsaw model UT10901A will start, but will not run. It is brand new, sat in box for a few years and was never started till now. It has new fuel and oil. Took out fuel filter and air filter. Still will not run for more than a minute. It acts like it is not getting the fuel to keep it running. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I have a problem with the carb on mine. I took it apart and the saw ran good. Then after sitting it won't run again.

I have one with the same problem but I found that by turning the idle knobs, high and low and then another one that it will run now. I think I need to play with them some more because it doesn't seem to have enough power. At least it stays running now though. Aloha

try taking starting fluid and spray it in the choke then clean carb

If it had fuel at one time in the carburetor before it sat it has probably "varnished." You'll have to remove and clean the carburetor. These little engines also use a diaphram system in the carb to pump the fuel. They can become hardened over time. Same fix, except re-assemble with a new carb rebuilt kit. Its easy if you have basic mechanical skills.

I know it sounds dumb but make sure that the emergency kill switch (safety bar) is in the correct position.
