These are separate circuits. The common factor is ground but if the tail lights & indicators are ok then this is unlikely. More likely is all the bulbs need replacing.
Someone once asked me to fix their brake lights. There was nothing at all when the pedal was pressed. All three brake bulbs had gone. Lack of maintenance.
