glow-worm 30cxi not able to top up with water?

Hi, I have a Glow worm 30cxi Combi boiler, I can only find one tap underneath the boiler to top up with pressure? The boiler is reading .5 of a bar, I have turned this tap on and nothing happens? The water pressure in the mains must be more than that. Can any one help please.

I had just the same problem. The plastic valve that should fill your system has plastic workings which collapse if over tightened. I had to get a replacement filling loop kit which includes the valve, pipe and the reduced pressure valve at the other end of the pipe, it cost aprox. £50. Guess what, the new filler valve has metal inner workings.

thanks Trev, my last combi had what you have just discribed. This boiler in my new home has just one tap then as the instructions call it a filling loop tube (which is copper) that leads into a reduced pressure zone valve. This loop tube is a permanent pipe going through to all sorts of electrics. All sounds very complicated and probably very exspensive? Luckily it is still working OK but don't know how long i'v got with pressure at .5 of a bar.

you should have two taps in line usually with a braided hose in between - usually black and will only turn 90 degrees turn one on then keep hold of other turn on slowly until pressure reaches 1.0 (1bar) this should put ch back in working order - if pressure drops again quickly you must be losing water from somewhere but is normal to lose pressure over time - if cant find other tap trace pipe work back to ensure connected tmains supply - good luck
