Sorry about the delay in replying,I have checked the fuses and bulbs,swapped a couple of relays about and found it was one of them faulty.Many thanks Tony B and John for your help.

Have you checked the bulbs ? Its seperate bulbs for the main beam and the dipped .

3 possibilities -1) check the dip beam fuse 2) The column stalk may be faulty 3) the lights are controlled by a relay which may have the huff. Sorry can't be more specific at this stage.
