can I repair my pen drive with linux?

when i connect pendrive ...the pc gets it....the green notification sign appears...but it neither opens...nor being forrmatted ...while trying to format by right click on the divice the message appears"windows can not format it". Can I repair it with linux? is there any other way with xp? lordsanti001@hotmail.com

Is the drive currently formatted and, if so, with what type of filesystem? Also, have you tried it under Linux at all to see if it recognises it?
