cam belt snapped?

hi, my son,s renault megan 2ltr 16 valve cam belt snapped at 5 mph, would it have cased damage to the valves! the water pump is also driven by the cam belt, would it make sense to change that as well! any tips or thoughts please

If you fit the cambelt turn the engine over by hand first before
doing a compresion test!

hi,just check your water pump to make sure this has not siezed if it has'nt & move's freely this should be o.k, replace cambelt and have a compresion test,this will give you some idea of approx valves bent if any? hope this help's

It's not just the valves, it could be the pistons too. Even at 5mph the engine is turning at about 1500 rpm!
