I don't know how to remove the button part on the Dyson DC04?

Does anyone have a repair or technical manual for a Dyson DC04? Does this tell you how to do this?
It looks like there may be a special tool needed, but I cannot figure out how the plastic piece is freed up to allow it to lift out.

Hi,

Just go to www.dyson-online.com and look at their technical advice section. The site is fantastic! Good luck.

Struggled with this for ages - and then the answer is very straight-forward. You don't even have to push something down the hole if you have strong fingers...

Simply push hard on the curved edge towards the handle - as you do this, push upwards and the top of the button simply lifts out as the clip is compressed. The screw holding the switch assembly is can then be accessed - cross-head screwdriver needed.

The on/off plastic button top has a flat side. In line with this flat side the button has a plastic spring clip which is preventing the button from moving upwards and out. To release the spring clip you need to push a thin rod shaped object down into the small hole which is at the edge of the button on the flat side. The button top will then lift upwards. Once the button top is removed there is a screw that allows you to remove the switch mechanism. The screw is a star type head.
