Can anyone help ? Ive bought a toyota lucida 2.2tdi and its overheating plus the heaters are cold and when i looked in the water tank there is oil in it ? can anyone tell me what to do and can anything fix this problem easy for now without big expence ?

It need not be expensive to repair......wondarweld by holts is sometimes suitable for failed head gaskets and similar problems.....Id try that after reading the comprehensive instructions 1st.....you really need to flush 1st to remove ALL anti freeze before adding to system....Its not too hard for a novice to use either.....and halfordssells it too....get the 500ml bottle

drain the radiator system and refill making sure you bleed the heater matrix( i think your head gasket has gone)if heater blows cold matrix isnt full.try some rad weld it might help any auto factors will sock it! good luck.

Go to www.estimaowners.com and join the forum. Lot's of stuff on there and very helpful. Unfortunately, if the cooling system is not looked after (i.e. lots of rusty looking gunge in the header tank) the head will overheat and crack on cylinder 4. Ouch. About £1300 to repair. But go the site and mention your symptons - could be something else. This guy is a real specialist in the area of Estimas http://www.rcmvr.co.uk/. Good luck.

Hi Vince.
Unfortunetly it sounds like it may be the cylinder head gasket that has failed. To check this you can buy a DIY test kit that detects exhaust gases in the cooling system ,using coloured fluid that changes colour when exhaust gases are present in the coolant.
You could also try flushing out the cooling system to get rid of the oil that is there now, make sure you use an approriate cleaner from a good car parts shop ie Halfords etc. Best not to use any type of household detergent or cleaner etc. If the oil returns you must have an internal leak somewhere between the water and oil system.
