How can I fix my cigarette lighter element in a 2001 Ford Escort?

My cigarette lighter isn't working. I went to AutoZone and had the fuses checked and was told all of my fuses are good none were blown out. The technician there suspects my element is the problem.

He's probably right, and a replacement is the answer. It doesn't have to be a Ford one though, they are generally a universal fitting.
