The cord return on my Kenmore canister vacuum cleaner no longer pulls the cord in. I need to get into the compartment to find what isn't working but I can not find the rear two screws. How do I get the top of the compartment off?

i just replaced the cord for my kenmore; so i know that you have to
gently pry the "retractor" button off to see the two screws.

Place a screwdriver at the rear of the button the push down on the
3 retaining 'tags' .. See sears online diagrams for more details.
