Accessing files on external drive!!?

I have moved files like Adobe photo/ Picasa2 and various music files to my new external hard-drive and I would like to be able to access them from the desktop shortcuts, but I am unsure how to change these. All or any advice would be great!!
Thanks,
Ann.

Hi Anne, using Windows Explorer find the file you want to place an icon on your desktop - place your mouse pointer over that file and RIGHT-CLICK you mouse. A window will open - Select Send to Desktop. An Icon will appear. If you want to rename the icon once it's there, RIGHT-CLICK you mouse on the Icon and select "RENAME" and type the name you want. That's it! Hope this helps!

1. open a window to show the files on your external hard drive but don't let the window be at maximum size ie. shrink it a bit so you can see the desktop.

2. On the external Hard drive, if you organise all your music files into a music folder and same with all of your pictures into a picture folder .... right click on the 'music folder' and select 'copy'

3. now move the cursor to your desktop and right click ... select 'paste' ..... this will copy a shortcut to these files on your desktop. Double clicking on these new desktop icon will bring you to the files inside this folder on your external hard drive.
