My washer is irritaing as it takes numerous attempts of openeing and clsing the door with various forces to make the machine start -any clues please?

There are 6 screws on the inside of the door at the top, take them off and then pull the control panel (which is now loose) forward. This gives access to the door catch which is held by 2 screws and is easily changed. My door catch spring has broken today so I'm trying to source a replacement spring/catch!
