When I turn my camera on, it tells me the lens cap is in place--even though?

JVC digital video camera (GR-DX77U). When I take the lens cap off & turn it on, the screen is black and it says the lens cap is on. How do I fix this?

This happened to my jvc camera, I found out that there is a fault with a lot of jvc cameras and jvc are offering free repairs. look on the jvc website and there is a pone number you can call and they will tell you what to do next!
