alternator light came on and wasnt charging?

the light came on and wasnt charging then i left it overnight went to it next day i jump started it of anoter car and itwas charging then as i was driving i had to slam the brakes on cos a car pulled out on me and the light came bk on

think you got a loose wire somewhere on the alternator make sure all is tight and dry also is the drive belt loose?
