How do I restore my Transcend 16gb CF card back to full capacity?

I have a Transcend 16GB compact flash card. I use the card in my Canon EOS Digital Rebel. The CF card was formatted in the camera and now only has half the capacity (8GB). I tried to reformat the CF card in my Windows Vista PC, but the card is still reading as 8GB. I know for sure the CF card was functioning properly as a 16GB card before the formatting. How can I format the CF card so that it once again has a capacity of 16GB? I have tried getting tech support from the manufacturer, but they will not respond.

If the new firmware didn't work.
I got caught with this a couple of years ago with a flash drive. Bought Drive from computer fair and it turn out to be a fake. The drive had been formatted using a program makes it seem a bigger than it really is.

So normally in the far east they buy 8GB drives format them to show 16 GB and have 16GB labels on them. Then they are sold cheaper than a 16GB and you think that's a good price and buy it. Worth asking Transcend about any known fakes if think this may have happened.

I just did what you described and got only 8GB from the 16GB Transcend card. My camera is a Canon EOS 400 (European, D REBEL XTi in America). The update history of newer firmware didn't mention fixing the problem, but I downloaded firmware version 1.1.1. After the update from 1.0.4 to 1.1.1 I reformatted the Transcend: 16GB available!!! Succes.

might be late on this one but, maybe someone else is having the same issue.
i, too, formatted my 16gb cf card in my canon camera (xti) and it came out 8gb. simple fix though, just needed to download the latest firmware from the canon site and update my camera and now all is well.
