HOW DO I FIND WHERE WATER IS ENTERING INTO CAR?

I SEEM TO HAVE WATER ENTERING INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR A FORD MONDEO 1.8 LX .ARE THERE ANY WEEP HOLES IN THE CAR THAT MAY REQUIRE CLEARING OR ARE THE SEALS WAY

hi all,i have a mondeo 2.5 v6 mk1,i have water constantly soaking my driver footwell, ive read about the seals on this page and will try that, but my boot carpet is soaked too,any ideas????

the previous owner did a bodge job on refitting the spoiler, and i think that leaks, but that doesnt seem to get into the boot floor,it stays in the boot lid until i open it,and then pours out onto your head!!

last question, could the water leaking into my car cuse all the windows to steam up all the time and make the inside of the windscreen freeze?

hope you can all help, cus this is driving me nuts trying to sort it

thanks,dave

try around tail lights , water runs around seal into boot then under back seat , or sun roof drain pipes they run down each side of windscreen

There is a rubber seal which runs down the side of the car along the top of the door frame.

This seal runs down the side of the windscreen to the area around the top hinge on the front door.

Open the front door of the Mondeo and follow this rubber seal to the area around the top hinge on the door. You will see that the rubber seal flattens out and seems attached to the bodywork panel.

The seal is actually held in place by a large moulded in rubber gromett which fits into a hole in the metal panel near the top door hinge.

This works loose and as a result water gets into the driver/passenger footwell area.

To fix the problem. Pull the rubber seal out carefully. Squeeze in a clear silicone sealant into the hole. Smear silicone sealant around the moulded in rubber gromett and replace it.

I found this repair to be 100% effective.

the leak you have got is almost certainly from the pollen filter as the seal perishes with time they need to be changed every 20k it is below the black outside windscreen vent on the pasenger side .took me 10 mins to change mine and was less than 6 quid from the local motor factors

chances are its the seal on the door they have a metal structure inside which squeezes together against the frame thus making a good seal but they corode over time look yourself for flex in seal or look for rust deposits on rubber
