GE DVL223 dryer making rubbing/scraping sound?

I have a 2 yr. old GE dryer that just started making a rubbing or scraping sound. It sounds like metal on metal. The dryer still works, but I prefer not to use it in case it gets worse. But since it doesn't seem like a major problem, I don't want to call a repairman just yet. Any advice?
Thanks in advance

Had same problem, turns out the back of the dryer had a dent that pushed the drum forward causing the front of the drum to rub on the housing of the dryer.

I have had the same model for 9 years. There is a felt pad between the drum and the front of the housing unit (door) that I have had to replace twice for the metal on metal sound you described. Also, the rear of the drum needed to be greased after 7 years of use. This job was more involved as the drum had to be removed, but if you are mechanically inclined it's fairly simple.

Yes, search the internet until you find a solution to your problem. I.e, find a walkthrough that will show you how to break it down and take it apart to find the problem. I found this forum pretty helpful. http://applianceguru.com/forum2/4079.html
I hope this helps since you waited four years for your answer.
