How to I repair a wire in a vintage coffee pot?

there is an electrical wire in an old vintage percaltor that needs "support" repair. The wire is a very thin white substance that is encased with thin wire spaced out so the wire looks like a coil. There are breaks in the white substance but the wire is still connected. Electrical tape will not work as it will melt. This wire gets hot. What should I use to put support around these breaks in the white substance?

GE Pot Belly Percalator. Not sure of the year

too late janet, but high temp epoxy would do it just fine.
