Removing cigarette lighter socket on Renault Megane II?

It appears that the cigarette lighter/12v socket in the centre console has become detached underneath the console in my 53 Renault Megane. I've tried to remove the cigarette lighter socket to help reatach the lead and connector, but can't get it out. Neither can I reattach the connector from underneath the console. Are there any easy ways to remove the lighter socket to allow me to reconnect? I don't want to have to take the centre console to bits if I don't have to. If I do, are there any easy ways to do that? Thanks

You remove the centre console by following the instructions of "MR-365-MEGANE-5.pdf", section 57A, that can be found online if you are lucky. Simple operation, but hard to explain without the images.
