Miele F/Freezer door seal problem?

Ive been pleased with all my Miele kit, but when my door seal split on my Freezer door Miele told me I have to have a whole new door. Thats £150 for the part alone, just for the sake of a £1 plastic/rubber seal.

I cant believe there isnt a fix for this! Has anyone else changed a door seal, and can offer me some advice please?

Many thanks

I tried to replace a deteriorating seal on my freezer with one they sent me from miele. The new one was larger and now my freezer ices up like a big block of ice. It looks like the new seal rubs up and admits room air around the hinges. Any tips as to how to fix this without replacing the whole door??

Yes, I pried the old seal loose ith a screwdriver. The mid section of the door (on the inside) is permanently fixed to the metal. Scrape through (after removeal of the old seal) around the outer edge to make free space for the new seal. Now install the new seal (with some effort). After that I added some "rubson seal and fix" between the new seal and the metal. Press lightly with clamps (and a piece of wood to even the pressure) untill the kit has been able to dry. 30 minutes should be enough.
Good luck!

You CAN replace just the seal.
The old seal needs to be detached(with a knife, all the way around-between the plastic & the metal.
The new seal is then pushed in-between the outside metal front & the inner plastic.
Use a few self tapping screws to stop the seal coming off.
Not an easy job but well worth doing!
