How can I purge air from my Fiesta engine?

The heater on my car is blowing cold air and the coolant guage stays on cold while the engine heats quite rapidly. I think I may have an air block. Does anyone know if the 1996 Ford Fiesta has a valve to purge air from the engine and if so where is it located? Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated

Its best to purge air from the highest hose, with the engine running - just release the rubber hose carefully, let any air escape then push it back on. Careful if the engine is hot! You can tell if the air is gone as both heater pipes will be hot. Fiestas of this age though have an electrical heater tap (fixed onto the bulkhead) which is notorious for packing in.
