Hoover Elite 920 water continues to fill and flood the washhouse?

My Hoover 920 continues to fill through the cycles unless I turn the tap off manually. Also through the spin/rinse cycle. It happened intermittantly at first and now frequently; I am tired of the floods when I forget. What is the remedy for this problem?? Apart from this recent problem ( 2+years) it has been a trouble free unit through the past 20+years. I could/should upgrade but who makes decent machines that last the distance these days :-( , so if it is an easy(?) fix I would prefer to stay with this tried and true machine.
thanks so much for any assistance

I don't know the exact model but our Hoover 8512 washer/dryer has a pressure switch near the top of the machine that senses the water level. This is connected by a tube to a small plastic reservoir at the back of the tub. If this tube gets blocked it causes the machine to overflow. Try removing this tube from the back of the tub and clean out any accumulation of washing powder and/or lime scale in the small plastic reservoir.

I don't know the machine but with any washer the "solenoid inlet valves" can stick in the open position. The water inlet hoses are normally connected to these valves directly at the rear of the machine. The only cure would be to replace the valve which is fairly straight forward.
