have same problem vaxhall have replaced keys wiring harnest and also now lookin in to the ecu they say its faulty thats why my astra wont start

It will probably be the security chip in the key, if you have dropped your keys then sometimes the chip becomes broken, this will activate the imobiliser.try the spare key, this happened to mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the starter moter is faulty the car will still bump start, so if you are not sure you can always bump it then nip into the garage

Where do I find my starter motor

Kev, January 2008
Thanks John I will check this

Kev, January 2008
If you can hear a 'click' from the starter motor but the motor doesn't turn, then its the starter motor itself. If no click, check the smaller of the wires going to the solenoid for security. Normally all lights would go dim if the battery was down on charge as you crank the engine. Make sure all battery leads are clean and tight, at both ends.
