My Kenwood Chef A901P started smoking whilst using dough hook on low speed?

My Kenwood Chef A901P started smoking whilst using dough hook on low speed.
I inspected it the next day and found no wiring faults.
It now appears to run OK, but have not tried it with attachments.
Can anyone advise me of possible fault and remedy.
The machine is 41 years old and has never had a fault or service, well done Kenwood!!!!!!

John is wrong. There are two capacitors on the motor, mainly to surpess interference that the motor would generate. The checmical composition of capacitors can become leaky after a long time and they can then take too much current and blow up. They are only pence each to buy replacements and can be readily soldered in place. Whilst doing this it is a good idea to replace the motor brushes as a good bit of preventative maintenance.

It does sound like the motor is going - but you can have this replaced, contact Kenwood

I'm afraid the insulation is breaking down on the motor, and eventually its heading for the great cake shop in the sky....
