no forward gears 1996 ford t-bird auto w/overdrive 4.6L?

acts like its out of fluid but its not.catches and slips.top speed about 2 mph.reverse is fine

I have a Galaxy with the same problem, dealer said need to replace transmission. Beleive clutch plate shatters and wrecks all the gears.
