How can I fix my Vauxhall Corsa Breeze?

My Vauxhall keeps cutting out whilst I am Driving it. It goes engine just cuts out. It starts back up more or less straight away apart from the last time it did it I had to put my foot on the acselator. What could the problem be I know its not the battery or the alternator

My son has a 1997 corsa breeze which keeps loosing power when it gets hot. He waits a while an the car restarts, drives for a while then cuts out again. There are no fault codes detected or warning lights indicating when the problem occurs. Could this be the camshaft sensor.

I have just taken my Vauxhall Corsa Breeze (1999 reg) to a garage today to have it plugged in to a diagnostics machine (this is the best thing to do if you are having any engine problems!) and although i havent heared back from them as of yet i am almost 100% sure it is the crank position sensor. When i start the car it doesnt pull with acceleration and judders around. The bloke i spoke to this morning at the garage said that it is common for the crank sensor to go in corsa's. It also has problems gaining acceleration when im on a motorway/bypass and im already travelling fast. Don't waste money and get your car plugged in to a diagnostics machine if the engine light comes on before you do anything!! and do not take it to a dealership as they will charge you the world!

My wife has a vauxhall corsa 1.2 sxi 03 plate and it has been nothing but a pain. It first started cutting out over a year ago, the AA diagnosed the problem as the catalytic converter so that was replaced, still no change! I took it to a local garage who first told me it was a the head gasket that had gone, had to pay out a small fortune and still had the same problem. Ive driven it and it doesnt even feel like your driving it, there is no acceleration response etc etc etc. Im now, after reading these answers, gonna change the crankshaft sensor and if that doesnt work, take it to a vauxhall dealership and hopefully pay to get it finally sorted properly!!!

i have a 51 plate 1.0l 12v corsa, it kept cutting out but would re-start straight away, the engine management light would stay on and the rev counter stopped working, i went to my local Vauhall parts dept and asked their advise, they said it was the crankshaft sensor and stated they sell about 10 a day, it's located underneath the starter motor and is only accessible from underneath the car, but the drive shaft is in the way, there's only one 8mm nut to undo and it cost £35 and took me 30 mins to fit and although i have scrapped knuckles it's sovled the problem.

My corsa 1.0 12v would cut out as soon as it warmed up?it was a crankshaft sensor and an easy diy job to replace, dont take it to a vauxhall garage as they will rob you blind

Hi,

I am having the same problem. i have a 2003 opel corsa and a few months back it just cut out the speedometer also stopped. i have taken it to many place but they never seem to fix the problem. The engine light comes on and then all the lights come on and the car cuts out, it restarts again but seems to happen often when it is hot...They have replaced the spedometer but it has not fixed the problem. Please any ideas this is costing me a fortune.

Simple answer - no single guaranteed fix. The nasty problem is that these engines have many sensors - cam/crank/maf/speed/egr etc any of which can cause an issue. First is the engine fault light on? If so then it MIGHT be helpful to get someone to read the diagnostics but this isn't guaranteed - especially with a maf fault, and you can get fleeced £50 for the privilege.
If you do not have access to cheap diagnostic kit all you can do is try the most common - ie carefully clean the maf, try replacing it, clean the egr valve, try replacing coil pack, Lambda sensor. If you can try swapping across from a running car this the best bet, as speculatively buying bits can get expensive. If you take it to a garage they will probably just do the same but charge you fitting and new part prices.

Best advice - if you take it to a garage pay by credit card cos if they don't fix it but still invoice then you have some cover from the card company.

I've got a 1 litre, T -reg corsa breeze which doesn't cut out but starts to loose power out of the blue when I'm driving. If I keep my foot on the accelerator it still slows down then suddenly picks up, slows down, picks up and so on. So it does some pretty strong stuttering. My ususal mechanic said that he can't find out what it is unless it does it there and then when he test drives it. But as soon as you turn it off, wait for 30 seconds and start it up again, it's fine. So not much chance that it'll do it when he's sitting in it. Any ideas then what he could check for me?

Hey people, i am a mechanic who likes his vauxhalls. my last car was a 1.4 astra merit 1993, it had that exact problem. i did all surts to get shot off the problem, cleaning up the earths, oil change, full service... everything. but once i took out the spark plug when it cut out and there wasn't no spark. your result to this problem is your coil pack! its faulty on most vauxhalls... its just two bolts to remove and 1 HT lead.. simple job and the problems fixed. any newer than a 1998 vauxhall may be a bit more difficult. hope i've helped

hey, iv got a 1litre 1997 corsa, i had the crank shaft sensor changed as it cut out on me twice and would not start again for a few mins and it was fine, but now a couple of months later im having a similar problem, it keeps cutting out on junctions but unlike before it starts straight away with my foot on the accelerator, i dont want to take it back to the garage as it cost me a fortune!! any ideas on what it could be?? got told it could be the mass air flow thingy but i dont know!! it seems to be the same problem as the question on the forum.

Hi, I've only had my 3 yr old Corsa 1.2 Design for 5 weeks. Last week it started cutting out without warning. After the first time I took it back to the garage who ran an test and said they couldn't find anything wrong and that it was maybe just a "one off" and I should see what happens. It happened again twice the following day so I took it back again. This time the garage said the O2 sensor was faulty so was replaced. That was 2 days ago. Can't believe that today driving home it happened again. Luckily its still under warranty but I'll be taking it back again. Some websites seem to mention the crankshaft sensor with this problem - will let you know what happens.

Hi.
If its stalling / cutting out on tickover ie at traffic lights or when you have your foot off the accelaerator, it may be the throttle body needs cleaning. To get to the throttle body you will have to remove the big black plastic tube that connects it to the airfilter housing. This will reveal the air intake / throttle body. If it looks gunged up with oil residue inside the neck of the intake , clean it out with a rag and a little brake cleaner spray. Make sure you DO NOT drop anything down the air intake.
Good Luck
