Is it possible to change the code on an alarm?

My burglar alarm has to be pressed really hard when trying to enter the code so i was wondering if it is possible to change the code when you have no idea what the model is?
Also if not is it possible to replace the keypad without setting off the tamper switch?

hello tracey, it is possib,e to change the code, but require make and model to have any chance at all.

if you change the keypad then tamper will activate ( if connected by installer) perhaps more importantly the active power supply (12volt, + & - ) may touch together and blow the RKP fuse in the main panel. not so much dangerous, but
system will not function until repaired.

code change to responsive digits does look the better option though.
