I can start the car no problem and it will idle at just under 1000 revs but as soon as i drive off or touch the accelerator the revs shoot up to about 2500-3000 and dont come down.I have to turn off the engine and restart for it to idle at a 1000 again.any suggestions.

Check the return spring on the end of the throttle cable where its connected to the fuel injection because it works off the ECU, if this is sticking, this could be causing the problem. Brian
