some filters live down by the drain pump others live in outer sump drain hose if you can't find it by the pump try the other location (prepare for spillage in either case) when you remove BIG BLACK HOSE coming out of the bottom of the outer drum held on clip type clamp squeeze the tail ends together to release clip and wriggle the pipe (at the same time need to check pump is also clear of blockages) you might have to clean out filter more than once due to fluffy carpet content
