how do I know if cam gear is set right,or how do I put it back in so it is right. is there a mark on cam gear that should line up with crank.this is a go kart engine i only know the date of the engine year 2001 number on engine..family ybsxs.2061 hc or 274679 briggs & stratton 5 hp these are the only numbers on the whole engine.

Usually there are dot marks on the gears - one on the cam and one on the crank. Line them up as you push the cam into place.
