the ribbed side go on the inside, smooth outside the arms just pull out its this action that tensions the belt, 2 arms therefore must be a reverseable model, you will have to lift the rear of the drum out of the cradle/carrier to pass the belt onto the drum( no big deal)a second person pulls back both jockey wheels you feed the belt on to the pulley when satisfied slowly release jockey pulleys on to the OUTSIDE of the belt rotate drum a couple of times both ways to check action of belt
