when i turn the power on my washing machine it trips the electric off?

is there a RCD built into the machine if so is there any diagrams i can use to locate it. i have the manual but it is very unhelpful.

I've had this happen from a large build up of carbon dust from the motor brushes.
This was caused by a section of the split ring cumutator being raised and causing the brushes to wear and "bounce".
Look for alot of black dust around the brushes in the motor, get a reconditioned motor to repair.

if your machine trips your house rcd you have an earth leakage fault on your machine.check the element as this is a common fault for tripping electrics

Sounds like a major short circuit - check for wiring abrading on the frame. after that its a matter of disconnecting major components in turn - heater, motor, motor drive board, door interlock, thermostat(s) etc. till the machine doesnt trip out. check out www.2ndwave.co.uk/manual.html
