My lp gas oven makes a loud,( kinda like a thump) noise right after I turn it on. It also makes a whistling sound and gives off a funny odor. Can you tell me what could be wrong with it and if it could be fixed? I have not used it for 6 months. The 4 top burners work fine. It is a kenmore free standing not sure of the model #

I think you should be careful about this one - the thump on start up will be a pocket of gas igniting, but the whistling sound is likely to be the gas not burning correctly at the jet due to the gas pressure being incorrect or the air supply restricted. Please don't use the oven until its been looked at, but its ok to use the top burners.
