My Chi hair-straightner is a purple "bling" model and it just stopped turning on. l think the cord might have shorted out, but i'm not sure. What can I do?

mine just did the same thing, i have the professional salon model. This is my 2nd chi straightener within the last 5 years. My first did the same thing as well. It has something to do with the way the cord gets wound over the years. If you wind up the cord too tightly around the body of the chi, it comes loose inside. The first time i didn't know about returning it or sending it to the company, i am going to test it this time. Any response on what happened when any of you tried to take it back to the salon you bought it from.. or send it in???

Mine did the same thing this morning! After much research (because I am panicking without mine) chi will replace any chi iron bought within a years time with original reciept and it can be taken back to the store you bought it from or mail it in to them and send 15.00 for shipping and handling. If it is out of warranty, there is a website that chi recommends from their website called salonart.biz that will repair your chi for 30.00 or something like that. I have never found an iron that works better than the chi and being in the business and having unruly curly hair with a thing for the straight and sleek look, I know a good iron. Id be willing to pay to have it replaced. Ill comment when I do it and see if the reapir is worth it or if its better to just buy another one!

my girlfriend's went out the other day so i took it apart and fixed it for her. It only took about 15 minutes. i'm 17 so if your good with your hands you can fix it. where the cord comes into the straightener it is able to spin but sometimes the inside spins as well which will break the solder . pop out the chi symbols on the pivot point, take out the screws, pop open she side of the iron with the switch, and at the end you'll see a wire or two that aren't connected. with a solder gun and some soldering wire just reconnect them. easy fix. hope that helped

I am also having the same problem- mine has a red light that should stay on and its blinking like its getting power but being shorted out- where is the fuse that you speak about above? should I try and fix it myself or does Chi have somekind of waranty on there products? I think there should atleast be a 1 yr warranty for the price we pay....

I have the same exact problem. I only had my iron for a year and all of a sudden it wont turn on.

people are telling me you can go to a salon or a store that sells irons and they can fix it for you.

so i have this same problem, my chi is black skulls original(i think) and i've ony had it for about 5 and a half months. i use it a few times a week and today it just stopped working. ive tryed it in different plugs and it still won't turn on, as well as playing with the buttons.
i don't know whats wrong with it and its making e angry..
