How to fix the brake lights on a nissan micra?

The brake lights on my Nissan Micra 1995 SLX won't work.
I've changed the bulbs and changed the pedal stop switch - still not working! Connections seem okay. Any advice?

I also have the same problem....

After snapping my ignition key, I lost my temper with the car and made a bit of a mess of the electrics around the steering column, while trying to snap the steering lock. :(

I've now replaced both indicator and windscreen wiper stalks, connected the plugs back how they were, but I can't get any thing on the rear clusters apart from indicator and hazards. Also, the dash lights wont come on, neither the interior light.

I've checked all the fuses in the car, replacing one that bit the bullet.

It's a 1990 model.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have any other circuits failed? Have you checked the relevant fuse? Your handbook should tell you which fuse protects the brake light circuit.
