Noisey and vibrating on spin?

Hotpoint Aqarius 1200. Machine washes and rinses fine but makes a hell of a noise on spin cycle. Started at only high revolutions but is now doing it at even the lowest number of revolutions. Hvaing to abandon spin altogether to avoid doing further damage. Whats wrong withit and how do I fix it. Can I do it myself or do I need to call someone in?

Sounds more like a problem with the drum bearings. If the drum seal is faulty, water enters and corrodes the bearings. Its a major stripdown job. Id advise a readup first. check out www.2ndwave.co.uk/manual.html

Depends what noise it is, if its a grinding noise then its most likely your carbon rods and the noise is being made by metal to metal sparking. Carbon rods are cheap enough but quite hard to fit as they are right on the motor.
