It depends on whether you have it sitting on the floor or hanging upside down. I have mine hanging up, such that the controls is on the bottom of the front of the dryer and on mine, warm is up, hot is down, and cold is in the middle. But if it sat on the floor it would be the other way around. By the way, if you still have the panel which has the writing etc on it, the panel actually slips out (you have to take the knobs off first) and can be turned to be the other way so the writing is around the right way.
Mind you, I should add here that I live in Australia and my dryer is really old (I can't remember where it came from I think it was one of those family items that emerges when you move out of home for the first time). It says Maxidry 1200 S on it though.
